Bone Loss and Grains ? An Evolutionary Perspective

One of the most fascinating findings in anthropology is that human bones became significantly lighter and more fragile after the transition to agriculture based-diets about 10,000?12,000 years ago. Research analyzing skeletal remains across thousands of years shows hunter-gatherers had substantially stronger bones than later farming populations, largely due to higher lifelong mobility and load-bearing activity.
